Great restaurant on the Embarcadero. They have outdoor seating over the water. We had the chowder and tacos. The tacos are outstanding. You get two large tacos not the little munching tacos you get sometimes. The tacos boast a large piece of fried fish that was not dry at all. Very tasty. Topped with a large slice of avocado with seasoning. Filling includes some really good Japanese style cucumber salad with dark beans. The chowder was excellent too. Small bits of clam and some fish with two small slices of toast. Just real tasty. A glass of beer and white wine and we had a great time for about $50.00 all in.
We had a great dining experience. The food was delicious, with a nice variety of fresh seafood dishes to choose from. The atmosphere was fantastic, especially with the beautiful waterfront location. The staff worked hard to keep everything well organized and were friendly and attentive throughout our visit. We would definitely recommend this restaurant and would be happy to return.
Solid fish and chips. The fish had a perfect light but crisp batter. Kid friendly. Decent bar. Clam chowder was also good. Great kid menu. View is alright. Service was pretty nice, but quick and to the point. A bit rushed. A little run down but still has some charm. Good for families. Not too expensive. I think the kids servings were great!
Stopped here for brunch on the Saturday of Easter weekend, and it did not disappoint! We got the fried fish tacos and the clam & fish chowder - AMAZING! Fish tacos were seasoned beautifully and filled with avocado, an tasty sauce, and huge crispy chunks of fish. The chowder was the best I've ever had. The outdoor seating area was nice as well. We'll be back for more menu items!
Pier 23 is a popular restaurant in between fisherman wharf and the Ferry Building. The food is good, although, reading the reviews and the recommendation for a reservation, and how hard it is to get a table – I would have expected it to be stellar, which It’s not, but it is good. My dining companion and I wanted to try many things, so we over ordered. Highlights: the crab cakes were good, the fish rillette is actually quite tasty, and the chowder was also very good. The calamari was OK, but nothing to write home about. Service was prompt and decent, and the atmosphere is about what one would expect for an establishment in this part of SF, with a rather out of place Chinese god of good fortune statue on the patio. Overall, definitely worth a try if you’re in the area, although I do not know that I would go out of my way to go again. My assumption as to why its reviews are so high are probably its proximity to the cruise ship docking area – and I will say it is better than the average tourist trap restaurant that is found in Fisherman’s Wharf. Definitely worth a try.
