I was looking for a nice dim sum restaurant, and City View provided a great experience. We had the shrimp rice noodle roll - with big shrimp inside, Soup dumplings, garlic green beans (really good - tender, crisp, good flavor), pork potstickers, Shanghai Siu Lung Bao, steamed BBQ pork bun), red bean sesame balls (made fresh and hot and the best I have had), and custard lava bun. Tea was $2.50 per person. Service was great. Our server recommended things to try and explained them. The only disappointment was they did not have egg custard tarts, but we were so full from all the food that I had to take my dessert to go anyways. Excellent prices for all the great food and service.
Excellent selection of dim sum items; everything came out really steamy and hot. Portions felt a bit small compared to HK, but taste was very good. Service was excellent as well. We were seated near the kitchen entrance but it really wasn’t loud at all. Enjoyed our visit and would go back next time we’re in town.
Slightly more upscale dim sum restaurant. Good food but also on the price-er side for the portion size. Congee texture and taste was excellent. Items ordered: XO stir fried rice rolls - highly recommended Scallop siu mai - could just get the regular sui mai Har Gow - classic Pork & century egg congee - excellent. Not watery and well seasoned Shrimp rice rolls - smooth and good thickness. Highly slurpable Pan fried turnip cake - great texture, not too flour-y Total ~80 USD after tip.
Oh man, what a great meal. Our son (who lives in Berkeley) frequents this place. We hit it for lunch while in SF today. Tried 9 different dishes and all were great...I mean really great. Very nice and modern restaurant. Service was good, but classic non-interactive Chinese service. I can't say enough about the food.
Dim sum restaurant in China town with thoughtful Chinese decor, having both Chinese and Non Chinese Clientele. It has some special dim sum dishes like Peking duck, crab claws, both delicious. The dim sum is good: the cilantro rice roll is a bit thick with limited cilantro, the scallop siu mai is a bit plain , the shrimp egg roll is very good. If you are in China town, this is worthy a visit.
