This place is an absolute gem! The pizzas are amazing, made with a 2 day fermented dough. that’s the key to making a low glycemic pizza with more enzymes it won’t raise your sugar levels. wow. The dough is made from the finest Italian ingredients, and the cheese is sourced from the best of Wisconsin—- mmm so much flavor. The sauce is also incredible, all cooked in the oldest wood-fired brick oven in the city. The tiramisu was amazing — wow. creamy. not to sweet. forget the italian pastry shops. just order here. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it feel like a cozy home away from home. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, and I highly recommend this hidden gem to anyone looking for a fantastic sf experience. meeting mo the owner was truly amazing. she made us want to never leave.
We just had one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had in San Francisco at Tommaso’s, and I honestly can’t wait to go back. From the moment we walked in, we felt genuinely welcomed. The woman who greeted us was so kind and warm — chatting with our toddler and making us feel immediately at home. She seated us, took care of us throughout the evening, and served us with such joy and hospitality. And the food… absolutely incredible. We ordered the Burrata and Roasted Tomatoes appetizer, Pasta alla Boscaiola, Spaghetti and Meatballs, and a cheese pizza for our (picky!) little guy. Oh! And for dessert we had the best tiramisu of our lives. Everything tasted authentic, homemade, and full of history — the kind of meal that feels like it’s been perfected through generations of family recipes. You can truly taste the love and care in every dish. And somehow, our picky kiddo happily finished two whole pizza slices — which honestly says a lot! Later in the evening, we learned that the woman taking care of us the entire time was actually the owner. She humbly shared the story of the restaurant — a 90-year-old business with its original pizza oven and decades of history behind it. Her passion for hospitality and preserving something so special shines through in every detail. By the end of the night, she gave us a big hug and we told her we’d come back with our whole family next time. That says everything about the kind of place this is. Amazing food, unforgettable hospitality, and the kind of experience that reminds you why family-owned, women-owned restaurants are so special. We absolutely loved it and can’t wait to return!
We had a great experience after stumbling in to this authentic Italian restaurant. The owner, Mo, met us at the door and was also our server for the evening. The atmosphere was cozy and fun, and the food was amazing. Mo explained the history of the restaurant and works hard to nurture a fun environment. We had an evening full of laughs. The food was authentic, simple, and delicious. The pizza was cooked in their 90 year old wood fired oven, had great sauce and cheese and that smoky wood fire taste. I got the standard spaghetti and meatballs, the sauce was thick and the meatballs taste like you are having dinner at someone's nona's house. We love to eat here in the city and will definitely be back each time we visit. Thanks for the great evening!
Ordered pasta for takeout. After I brought the food home, I noticed that the Parmesan that came with my order was moldy. Very obviously too, so it took some negligence for this to end up with my order. And I doubt this is the only moldy cup of Parmesan in the restaurant. I don’t know if they just don’t care about their takeout orders or if it extends to their dining room too, but sending out moldy food is unacceptable. If you have a takeout order, check your food for mold before you leave the restaurant.
I stumbled upon this restaurant while staying in the area. I'm originally from NY and have a high standard for Italian food. The service was amazing, warm and inviting waitstaff as well as the hostess. It's a very cozy family styled restaurant which makes you feel right at home. The food felt homemade and definitely was satisfying with large portions. My tummy was happy and full. While we were sitting the owner came and checked in on our table. She was very modest in her accomplishment of taking over the restaurant and was happy to share that she locally sourced and also seasonally sourced some of the ingredients shown on the menu. I had an amazing experience, meeting the owner was so warm and inviting and the food was to die for. Highly recommend to visit this place!
