Came here for my birthday and it exceeded mine and my friend’s expectations. The food was spectacular, the service friendly and attentive , and I loved the old school feel of the restaurant. It felt like a luxurious experience from start to finish. I highly recommend!
Fantastic night at this beautiful retro steakhouse on top of Nob Hill. The room is absolutely GORGEOUS!. Every table has a banquette. It’s all side-by-side romantic seating with low lights. Truly a romantic restaurant for a special occasion. The entire staff was top-notch, so welcoming and professional. Our hostess was so friendly. Special shout out to Kerine who took such good care of us. I I did take away one star for food. Here’s my thinking. It was the best ribeye steak I’ve ever had in the restaurant and also the chicken pot pie was amazing. However, the Crudo appetizer was kind of flavorless. The kitchen needs to rethink the flavor profile on that dish. Also, the mac & cheese was just blah. Nothing that can’t be fixed.
We are so happy the big four is back better than ever! We didn’t want to get our expectations up too much because we love the old big four that was closed for six years. As soon as we walked in the door, we had the warm greeting. We got to our table. The renovation and restoration is gorgeous. It brings you back to an old world that’s Cozy and elegant. The service was impeccable. We had the mushroom pot pie, the trout and the Cavatelli. All were five stars, completely delicious. The mushroom pot pie was the best pot pie I’ve ever had and I love pot pie. The pastry was so perfectly light and fluffy and buttery, and the filling was perfect and delicious. We will be back this place is great not only as the food wonderful but the warmth of the service staff makes the experience top notch and such a pleasure.
Old world SF charming interior with unnecessarily severe modern can lights. Went for breakfast and overhead spot lights were blindingly bright and severly compromised the otherwise beautiful traditional atmosphere. We asked and were allowed to move to only table that wasn’t badly overlit. Have also heard that spotlights are way too bright at dinner too. They don’t have dimmers either. Unfortunate since the interior is so beautiful. Ham and cheese omelette was great though. Service dogs welcome.
Had a great time celebrating my birthday at this iconic restaurant in San Francisco. So very happy that this place is back and the food, drinks and service are still top notch. Can't wait to come back again! :)
