Dropped in for an audit right as the doors opened at 12:00 PM. Front-of-house gets immediate points for operational efficiency—they let us choose our own table right away. Opted for the rear terrace to take advantage of the filtered natural daylight. The vibe back there is casual but high-tempo, backed by an upbeat soundtrack (including Green Day). Service pacing throughout the meal was fast and precise. The food, however, showed a sharp divide in technical execution: Margherita Pizza (9/10): Outstanding work. The wood-fired crust hit a perfect baseline with beautiful, uniform leoparding. Texturally it was spot-on—not overly chewy at all. The tomato sauce was the clear star of the show, utilizing vibrant, high-quality tomatoes that balanced perfectly with the fresh basil. A textbook Neapolitan pie. Maccaronara (8/10): A strong success. The house-made noodles had an excellent, firm al dente snap to them, holding up beautifully against a rich, properly reduced tomato sauce. Orecchiette (6/10): A total technical failure. The quality of the base components (like the lamb sausage) was obviously high, but the kitchen completely forgot to season the dish. From the very first bite, the flavor profile was entirely flat and bland. While the noodle texture was perfectly fine, the total lack of salt or seasoning made it a chore to eat. Wound up abandoning it halfway through to go back to the pizza. Chestnut Street has a great weekend energy right now with plenty of foot traffic. Stick strictly to the wood-fired pizza and the tomato-based pasta dishes here. Approach the alternative entrees with caution until they dial in the seasoning consistency.

A16 in the Marina delivers a great family dinner with a crisp, perfectly baked pizza crust that avoids the overly charred pitfalls of other artisanal spots. For a party of four, sharing three pies was the sweet spot, with the mushroom and sausage options standing out as excellent, well-balanced highlights. The only misstep was the Romana, where an excessively salty anchovy profile completely overwhelmed the palate, making it one to skip. Beyond the food, the space is beautifully appointed with thoughtful decor and ample seating, all bathed in great natural light and backed by warm, attentive service. Parking in this part of town requires some serious patience, but the excellent quality and very reasonable price point make for a fantastic night out that warrants a return visit.

Italian restaurant with a unique name. A16 offered indoor and outdoor seating. There’s a little courtyard behind with a few small tables. It was super busy on a Saturday night and I can tell it’s very popular. Service was friendly and attentive. The food was good. Wine list was interesting with Californian wines. Olives were fresh and nicely marinated in olive oil and a bit of lemon. They were very tasty and the slight touch of lemon brought out the flavours perfectly. Burrata with prosciutto was ok. Artichoke salad was great. Squid ink pasta with fresh crab meat was very good. Pasta was cooked al dente, chunks of crab meat and tossed with some olive oil, lemon zest. The taste was well balanced, light on the palate with the freshness of the crab coming through. The service was excellent and well paced. The appetiser plates were cleared before the pasta arrived. Each course was finished and cleared before the next course arrived. This attention to proper service is excellent! It was very noisy inside the dining area. Opt for outdoor seating or the courtyard for a more quiet dining experience.
