We really enjoyed our family brunch at Rise and Set! The food had a really great Thai influence and was super tasty. The portions are large, but not too much. The staff was great too. We’ll definitely be back!
Can't say enough good about this place! My ideal brunch vibe and cuisine. Walked in on a whim while in the neighborhood on a weekday morning and was thrilled by the ambiance immediately. There's a large tiled sunroom in the front of the restaurant filled with natural light and eye calming colors. The back has comfortable and beautiful live edge wood booths with thoughtfully shaped cushions and a very aesthetic bar. The lighting is soft without being dark. The music is calm without being cheesy or repetitive. Service was fast and I even took a chance on a "hot chocolate latte" while I mulled over all the way-too-good sounding menu options. To my delight it didn't taste at all like a mix or cappuccino machine creation. It had subtle sweetness but the texture and overall taste was closer to the cafe mocha / latte end of the spectrum without needing extra sweetening. Perfect. After asking the waitress if the "thai style" fried chicken had any heat on it (no), I settled on the chicken and croffle. Let me tell you, this was the best chicken and waffle I've ever tasted. The chicken was tender, boneless thigh meat that had tons of flavor without being greasy. The breading was not bready but effortlessly light and crunchy, almost tempura-like. The seasoning has very mild "earthy" herbal undertones exactly like the waitress described, which didn't overwhelm the overall flavor profile. For $21 I felt this was an incredible value, you get two slices of croffle (a very nice Belgian waffle with crosisant-like stretch that isn't battery or sugary like most waffles), easily a 6oz piece of chicken, and a medium fried egg. Plus, I got a side of REAL maple syrup for no added charge! The sort of Sriracha aioli served with it was also delicious - just the right level of dilution. As I type this review I'm trying to make space in my stomach for the final 1/4 of this meal. Will definitely be back!!
This place was excellent The food was very tasty with variety to eat. They have breakfast and dinner and a little bit of lunch. The French toast takes a little bit long to come then the other foods because it is handmade, but it is the best French toast you will have in your life and I enjoyed it so much. All the other food were also very good. We came on a Sunday morning, got the fried chicken Benedict the avocado toast the shakshuka and also French toast. The Shakshuka was really good. The avocado toast is also really good and the drinks were also really good as well. I enjoyed this place and would recommend although the area it is in is not the best the inside of the restaurant looks like it is in a great area would recommend.
We visited this cafe for Sunday brunch. When we arrived before 10am it was not yet busy and easy to find a table, later it got packed and lively. Each of us ordered different dishes. Each item arrived at different times so some of us got impatient while waiting. Best dishes are avocado toast and french toast. Shakshuka didn’t have the authentic mediterrenean taste. It tastes like marinara with mozarella basically lasagna without meat instead with one egg cracked in it. Atmosphere is clean, modern and lively, we enjoyed it. Neighborhood might not be the best in SF though.
Loved this place! They serve brunch and dinner with a Thai-inspired menu, and everything we tried was delicious. I had the iced oat matcha latte and my partner had the iced coffee—both were great, and the cup presentation was so cute. I ordered the shakshuka plate which was super filling—the cheese and egg were perfect, and the sauce was rich and flavorful. My partner got the croffle and chicken sandwich with a fried egg, and it was amazing. The sweet-and-sour aïoli dipping sauce was my favorite part and I’ll definitely ask for extra next time. The space is classic yet modern—clean, stylish, and super welcoming atmosphere with a wide range of seating options for small to larger parties. We’ll absolutely be back to try more brunch options, especially since they have pandan toast!
