The food we ordered was not very good for the most part. Tried a variety of soup dumplings and the skin was mushy, filling was bland, and the soup was greasy instead of the flavorful broth I was hoping for on the inside. The skin on the shrimp gow was crumbly rather than springy and chewy, and the shrimp tasted old. The smashed cucumbers were probably the best thing we had there, those we enjoyed and would recommend.
I love dining in restaurants where you can just scan a QR code on the table and order/pay from there. There Mapo Tofu is the BEST I say the BEST one I've ever had. Would highly recommend that with a side of rice. Overall the food was delicious especially given that. Wish I can come back here again but unfortunately I live in Fullerton. Thank you.
My husband and I decided to go here because the reviews seemed great. However, we regret having spent our money here. Upon entering the restaurant, you see a cute cat neon sign on the wall. But they still had Christmas decorations in May. Not a big deal, but still indicative of lack of care. We were greeted by a no-frills hostess who didn't seem very happy to be there. Then we were told to scan the QR code to order. We ended up ordering scallion pancakes, xiao long bao, and chicken fried rice. The scallion pancakes were the only saving grace of this dining experience. The texture was crispy, airy, and thin, which we enjoyed. It was paired with a sweet and sour sauce which we have never seen before, so we opted out of eating it. The xiao long bao were unfortunately flavorless and steamed for too long as it just ripped apart immediately. However we did appreciate that they seemed handmade. The worst of this meal was the chicken fried rice. It was also flavorless and for some reason had shreds of unseasoned iceberg lettuce in it. It would have been okay, but then we found a hair after eating half of the dish 🤮 We normally don't ever let food go to waste, but we could not bring ourselves to finish the dish. There are many better Chinese restaurants in SF, so I would recommend spending your money elsewhere.
I ordered the beef noodle soup and the 8-piece eggplant & pork boiled dumplings for dinner. The dumplings arrived first about 10 minutes after I sent in the order. The dumplings arrived hot but cool down really fast, so dig in before they get cold and the skin hardens. I couldn’t really taste the eggplant but I did feel the consistency of it with the pork. Flavor is light but I’d like more of the meat flavor to come out. I doused the dumplings in chili oil. The beef noodle soup came out about five minutes after the dumplings arrived. The soup was hot and fresh. The noodles were pretty good and cooked well for the most part, I did find a very small tangle of noodle that was stuck together. There were a handful of greens in the soup, which were good to give some crunch to your chews. Beef stew quality is above average (C+/B-), not too fatty but can still chew pieces of good meat. Soup base flavor is good and what I expected, no surprise spices or herbs added.
Ordered takeout — went with the pork, cabbage, and onion dumplings. They traveled surprisingly well; still soft and juicy when I got home. The flavor was solid — savory filling with a nice balance between pork and cabbage — though nothing that completely blew me away. Overall, a dependable dumpling spot if you’re craving something comforting and straightforward. Nothing fancy or over-the-top, but it definitely hits the spot. I’d order again, especially for a quick and easy meal.
