Awesome! This is the Best Mission Bay destination for an exceptional dining experience, attentive service and the open, spacious ambiance. Where else can you enjoy the water view with the comfort of a fireplace setting. The menu is unique and reasonable with generous portions for sharing. We loved the Chopped Salad and shared the Scallops and the Whole Fish with green beans. The Chocolate dessert was amazing! We will go back to try the steak and duck !
Beautiful new restaurant! Most of the menu is Gluten Free, with very unique flavors. They also have a great coffee shop spot during day time hours. Will 100% go again. One thing to add is that they have a lot of private rooms so it’s an easy go to for private meetings / work dinners with a good view and prime location by Oracle Park and China Basin!!
Great addition to Mission Bay. The poached shrimp were especially delicious.
Sergeant Ma pairs a beautiful waterfront setting with inventive Asian fusion food and excellent service. The high ceilings, warm wood accents, and inviting indoor-outdoor lounge areas give the space a modern, resort-like feel. It’s the kind of setting that encourages you to linger, while the service is impressively efficient and attentive. The seasonal menu was a highlight, and we tried three inventive appetizers: a flavorful lobster salad, halibut crudo with uni and carrot-citrus vinaigrette, and duck pâté served with a pineapple bun. Those combinations capture what makes the menu interesting: familiar ingredients brought together in unexpected ways, with plenty of personality. Our favorite dish was the chopped salad. Packed with fresh ingredients and bright tropical notes, it was memorable enough to take top billing—even alongside lobster, uni, and duck pâté. We finished with a refreshing dessert featuring coconut and lychee ice—a lovely finale that echoed the bright tropical notes we loved in the salad. With its waterfront location, beautifully designed space, colorful cocktails, and creative menu, Sergeant Ma has a lot going for it. Add excellent service, and it’s a new restaurant well worth checking out.
Creative and delicious food in a gorgeous atmosphere. The duck liver pate/mousse with the pineapple bun was incredible. The halibut crudo with uni is another “must order” dish. If you’re there with a group, the branzino is perfect for sharing. Don’t skip dessert but save plenty of room because the portions are large!
