Pier 39 was super busy, and some of the other seafood restaurants had wait times of almost an hour. However, Louis wasn't super busy, so my friend and I decided to eat here. We got a really nice window table with a great view of the seals and the city. We ordered the crab cakes, Fettuccine alla Florentine, and a mocktail. I loved the crab cakes, and the pasta was creamy and pretty tasty without being too heavy, which I really liked. It felt like a lighter, more lemony version of Alfredo. There were a bit too many capers, but it wasn't a big deal since I could just pick them out. Overall, not bad! It seems like a quieter spot on the Pier, so it is a solid choice if you want to skip the long wait times, grab some decent food, and still enjoy a nice view of the bay.
Absolutely loved my experience at this restaurant! From the moment we arrived, everything felt special—the beautiful atmosphere, stunning views, and warm hospitality created the perfect dining experience. The food was excellent, and the staff were some of the friendliest and most attentive people I’ve encountered. They were welcoming, professional, and genuinely made us feel appreciated. The fish and chips were definitely the highlight—one of the best I’ve ever had in San Francisco! The fish was fresh, perfectly cooked, and had the perfect crispy texture. The clam chowder was also enjoyable, although it was a little heavier on the potatoes than I personally prefer. Overall, this was a fantastic experience with great food, a beautiful setting, and exceptional service. I would highly recommend this place and can’t wait to come back again!
We went here as part of the Amtrak California Zephyr package. The restaurant is beautiful, seated right in Fisherman's Wharf and can't go wrong. The vibe is good, and feels classy,without pretentious "elegance". People here want to chill, and they can. Dress is casual as the place is a massive bazaar and the restaurant is one of many. The service was average and we perceived we were discounted AS CUSTOMERS because of whatever reason (amtrak customers, race/ethnicity, tired staff on a slow day, who knows). Key here is this is what I PERCEIVED. If this is how they treat everyone, then service is an easy 5/10. We both ordered the salmon (from a prefab Amtrak menu). I didn't think to see the whole menu, and they didn't offer. I would have rather had the option of the full menu with the $100 Amtrak starter budget, then do whatever we want. It's our 40th and we're willing to splurge-we had our own budget. Their revenue loss and our disappointment. The salmon was good and even the zucchini was good. I never eat zucchini, but my wife insisted I try it. Worth it. The tiramisu dessert was mid. Overall, there's great potential here, but I think the Amtrak constraints, and their scripted approach, homogenized the experience and we left sparkless.
The service was good. That view was excellent, however the food was not as good as we expected. I did love the clam chowder but we felt the fettuccine alfredo was a bit odd and apparently a few others had also indicated as such and the chef brought us a new plate (of his own making, which was greatly appreciated, and was much better). The chicken marsala was average, simple things like searing the chicken would have been a fantastic addition to bring closure to a plate that was good but not amazing. I would try it again in the future.
I ordered the cioppino, crab, and garlic tomato spaghetti, and everything was absolutely delicious. The cioppino sauce was especially impressive, and the crab was so fresh that my whole family really enjoyed it. We were lucky enough to be seated by the window, and the view was beautiful. The service was also satisfying thanks to the quick serving. It’s a restaurant I’d love to visit again and would definitely recommend.
