Food was above average. Service was good not excellent. What was a surprise is the $5/person cover charge in the name of the health employee benefit which is steep by most restaurants practice. I only hope that money is used for employees and not to go to the businesses profit
Lovely place to eat, especially before an afternoon concert at Davies. Nice menu, good seafood choices. I had the black cod, delicious.
Old school San Francisco restaurant in the heart of the vibrant Hayes District close to Miner Auditorium and SF Jazz. Food is always top notch and service is efficient but not the most personal. Menu and wine list are not extensive but lots of good options.
We had a wonderful dinner here last night. The food was absolutely fabulous. Incredible attention to detail, with expertly crafted flavor. The service was delightful and friendly. It was quiet so we could hear each other speaking across the table (rare these days). An absolute gem in the center of SF!
Can not say enough great things about Hayes! The second we were seated we could tell the night was going to be great. First of all the appearance classy, clean, yet rich with history. Once we arrived, which was promptly at 6:15p, a waiter swept over and asked THE question... "Are you trying to catch the 7:30 show?" We were!! The menu was simple, predominantly seafood, but felt like each dish was special. I grabbed the pork chop, my partner got the scallops. The food was incredible! My chop was perfect, hard to make a chop melt in your mouth. I have to add, however they blanch the spinach is spellbinding. If you're looking for a wonderful pregame dinner for any of your major art performance this is it.
