Good place for a quick bite, but the clam chowder is mostly potatoes and the fish and chips have zero flavor. (No salt or anything on the breading) use the tartar sauce and lemon too give it some flavor. If you want fast service this is the place for you, otherwise the crab house would be a better option.
Chowder’s was seriously impressive. The clam chowder served in the fresh sourdough bread bowl was rich, creamy, and full of flavor without being too heavy. You can tell it’s made right. The calamari was crispy, fresh, and perfectly seasoned, and the fries were hot and golden. Everything tasted fresh and the portions were generous. Great seafood spot with that classic coastal vibe. Definitely a place worth coming back to.
This is cute little restaurant inside Pier 39 at the Wharf area. We had fried fish, shrimp and crab cake. Very tasty meal. I would recommend you trying it.
Every time I visit my son and we go to San Francisco, there’s something that can’t be missed: enjoying a white clam chowder at Chowder’s, at Pier 39. It has become a special tradition for us. The clam chowder is simply delicious—creamy, comforting, and full of flavor—perfect to enjoy while walking along the pier and taking in the lively atmosphere. Without a doubt, an absolute must-try on every visit to San Francisco.
Happened to come here quickly. I asked the staff if they were still open and they said yes and were very friendly and accommodating! The food was amazing. I got a crab melt and it was soo delicious! Tried one from some place in Monterey and it didn’t even compare to this one. Plus it was very clean. Loved it here and would definitely recommend.
