A little hole in the wall. I enjoyed their generous spice level and the variety of options of their menu. Some interesting items you don't see anywhere else (chicken gizzards, squid, intestines, etc.). If you can handle spicy, definitely worth checking it out.
The food was excellent, spicy, and delicious. The service was fast. The decore needs some attention to make the restarant more inviting. However, I would recommend the food.
In business since 1974 for a reason. This restaurant is off the beaten path, but we'll worth the small detour from Grant Street. I had the spicy cod and curry chicken both were flavorful and delicious.
Not delicious as what I expect for Hunan food and the flavors are quite bland. I'm not sure why the review score is so high, but my expectation for an authentic, flavorful Hunan food was definitely not met. We went in during a weekend dinner and there were very few people - kind of already indicating the place is not so popular. We tried House smoked beef jerky and house special tofu. Although both looked fine, they were really lacking the flavor. I can taste some saltiness but not much more. I was actually surprised because the smoky Beef jerky didn't have actually the smoke flavor. Service was so-so. After we sat at a table, the owner asked us whether we needed water. When we asked to pack our leftover food, they were trying to give us fewer boxes and asked if we can stack different dishes together. Suitable for a quick meal but not the nice vibe - The restaurant is small in a fast food style and not for large parties.
