I highly recommend this hostel. The host and core manager was absolutely fantastic. The price is fair and the location is solid. I really appreciate how when I brought a few concerns up they were immediately addressed. I am very grateful for the opportunity to stay here. The host also gave great tips and information about the city.
I received more real service from the management here than I have in my last five hotel stays combined. After a tuff day of travel, I needed a brake. I had hit several dead ends and Tradewinds delivered. In the spirit of Hostels rhey stand out as shining light. Great stuff thank you. Great location awesome bar and food roght outside. Pick up and jam with the owner. Really good time. Thanks so much!
This place gets five stars all around because of the location and the price. The current monastic employee there, Assad is very nice and kind and does his work well. The hostel itself appears to be something like an office building that was retrofitted to be a hostel. It is not pretty and does not have any natural light in the common areas. The bunk beds are extremely small in terms of width like an extra narrow twin and don't have much privacy from one another. They are nice and sturdy so they don't squeak and creak when the top person gets in and out. Mattresses and pillows are of decent quality and the bedding is totally functional even though the zipper on mine was broken. My towel was good and my wife's towel smelled dank. Assad kindly Kent me flip flops which was so nice. They give a free breakfast but it's basically like bread, peanut butter and Nutella. Since you are surrounded by Chinatown, you would really have to be hard up to want to avail yourself of those offerings when you could go get some amazing Chinese food for very little nearby. They made a valiant effort to create community by having different programming and we were not there for event prime time so we cannot attest to the vibe created. When we were there it was about 90% young men The bathrooms are extremely basic.
A delightful experience After missing my flight from Paris, canceling the room I should have rented for my stay; this hostel was fare beyond anything that I could have imagined From day one I felt home in a city that can be overwhelming. I considered it my refuge, glad to be back and excited to meet the people that form its community. Speaking of community; from my 6+ years of travel in Asia, America - I have not felt so much unconditional love from our lovely host Asad. From daily themed event, group breakfast and tacos nights, barbecue, city tours I had reached the heaven when I had the chance to meet an American from Indiana that literally made my trip. The people are the nicest and speaking with them lead to thoughtful, fun and interesting conversations. I have made tons of friends in less than a week and would recommend it to anyone keen on joining the community
The location is great in Downtown and unbeatable for this price. The most remarkable feature is the very kind, friendly owner who provides breakfast, and has events planned every evening like free BBQ, Trivia + Pizza, or karaoke and so on. He helps you as much and as fast as he can and also cleans the kitchen and stuff as some travelers unfortunately don't know how to do it. He was the best host I ever had
