This is by far the BEST dining experience I have ever had in my life. Party of four on a Saturday night at 7. We all did wine pairings and ordered coffee service. Dinner took about 3.5 hours so be prepared to have a wonderful experience. The first thing that captured my attention when walking in was all the wood paneling and the window looking straight into the kitchen. The waiting room was an absolutely beautiful and calming space. We ordered champagne with the small bites they give you before seating you. All I can say when you eat the small bites is FLAVOR EXPLOSION in your brain. The first was a beautiful tomato broth with grilled lavender oil. That one stood out to me because I have never had lavender in food. The dining room has a Nordic ambience and has a very warming and homey vibe. All 12 courses/plates were incredible. Each plate was a work of art. Not one thing I didn’t like. The wines were beautiful and incredible. I drank all my wine 🙂🍷 One of the memorable dishes was the simple cultured butter from San Martin with crackers. I didn’t know butter could be that delicious. 🤤 I loved their concept of using all the food and not letting anything go to waste.
We had a large party in their private dining room. The experience was impeccable, especially having such a large dining group. The ambiance felt very cozy and our captain, Jason, had a great sense of humor, and also answered many of our questions with thoughtful and informational responses. From the beginning bites they were wonderful with surprising textures that were very memorable. Each dish was honestly so pretty to look at each time. You can tell even the garnishes were carefully placed. You know it’s a good meal when it’s silent during each course. We had an absolutely wonderful time and recommend also getting the non-alcoholic pairings and wine pairings! So much easier when everything is curated so thoughtfully. The whole team made our party feel at ease and is one of the best dining experiences in San Francisco.
Great experience. I wasn't in awe of everything served during the 4h meal, but a few dishes were quite memorable. Fermentation, salt, and vinegar were strong signatures, though some at our table found them a bit overpowering. Quantity was likely fine: some thought it was too much, others felt it wasn't enough 😀. Service was good; friendly without being obsequious. They had to synchronize a few of the courses, which went smoothly aside from a single 10-minute delay. A nice touch is the layout of the main room, with all tables facing the open kitchen
I had dinner at Sons and Daughters last night and have been dreaming about the experience all day today. I would refer to this as an "experience' rather than just a meal - everything from the moment I walked in the door was perfectly curated for an amazing ~3 hours. As a solo diner who has never really been to a fine dining establishment, every single staff member made me feel comfortable and welcomed. The ambiance is top notch - it is a gorgeous restaurant with an amazing view of the open kitchen no matter where you sit. Every member of the team is extremely knowledgeable. The food absolutely blew me away. I had no knowledge of "New Nordic" cuisine coming into this meal, but I was so pleasantly surprised by each and every beautiful dish. Throughout the experience you learn about the way the chefs preserve the food, where they're sourcing their meat from, little details about Chef Harrison and his inspiration for the menu he's crafted - right down to the detail that his mother makes and ships many of the dishes that they use from England! I can't say enough good things about this dining experience. If you're looking for a unique, delicious, and interesting experience in a warm, gorgeous atmosphere - Sons and Daughters will check every box!
Unforgettable. The precision and quiet synchronization of the staff might be my favourite part which is crazy considering how excellent the food is. And the sourcing? Unreal, halibut caught 3 hours prior to me eating it. Special ducks only a certain number of them raised a year for us to get to eat. Im not sure i have all the right words Its just a crazy experience i do recommend. Best non alcoholic pairing ive ever had nothing
