A very fun vibe. Transports you right out of SF. A really solid smash burger, definitely at the top of the list of SF Smash Burgers. Open late with a full bar, 100% recommend a visit.
I love this place. I recommend everything here except the fries (which is sad for a hamburger spot but the rest makes up for it). They sound like they’d be delicious, duck fat fries?? yes please! but No, they are not great.. soggy limp texture, and i don’t find the duck fat doing anything for the flavor, don’t say i didn’t tell you so. I brought friends here and warned them about the fries but they wanted to try for themselves and agreed ;-) once these guys fix the fries they will be unstoppable. But get all the burgers and shakes they are great! And i love the causal ambience here!
I stopped by Hamburguesa Bar last night and had a pretty mixed experience. On the plus side, getting seated was quick and easy. I only waited a minute or two before grabbing a spot at the bar. The service was easily the highlight of the night. The waiter was attentive without being overbearing, got my order in quickly, and handled everything smoothly from start to finish. The ambiance is definitely what this place leans into. It has a retro, almost 70s inspired vibe with dim lighting and a nostalgic feel that is honestly pretty cool. You can tell that is where a lot of the appeal and hype comes from. As for the food, it did not really live up to that same level. I ordered the chile hatch burger with regular fries and a Ghost IPA. Nothing was bad, but nothing stood out either. The burger was just okay, the fries were fine, and overall it felt pretty average. Mid is probably the most accurate way to describe it. Perfectly edible, just not memorable. In the end, it feels like a place where the atmosphere carries the experience more than the food. If you are going for the vibe and a casual drink, it works. But if you are expecting a standout burger, this probably is not it. I am not sure I would go out of my way to come back.
Finally tried it out this past weekend and it did not disappoint! We went pretty early and opted to sit at the bar. The staff were super nice and the old diner vibe was on point. We tried the El Reno smash burger and the Black Label tavern burger was well as an order of the duck fat fries and chocolate shake. For me, the tavern burger and the fries stole the show. Highly recommend for a chill and tasty dinner spot.
I’ve had this place saved to go and finally stopped by for a lunch burger, fries, and a shake. All parts of the meal were very tasty, I quite enjoyed the smash burger. My only complaint would be the small size of the shake for $10. I’ll have to stop by again to try more of their menu options
