Reviews
We made a quick stop at Begoni Bistro during our visit to Chinatown after seeing the positive Google reviews, and it turned out to be a great choice. The food was delicious, the service was attentive, and the overall experience was very enjoyable. A nice spot to enjoy authentic Chinese cuisine..
We really struggled to find a restaurant that wasn't crowded, ended up in chinatown somehow and came across this. Luckily the hostess was nice enough to seat us though they were going to close soon. We got the chicken dumplings, which were ok nothing special. I really liked the chicken wings so tasty, and somehow the garlic on top worked. Chow mein was like any other chow mein Ive had, it was oily but ok.
High-quality dimsum made-to-order. All expertly made, clean tasting. Standouts include: * Steamed Beef Tripe with Soy Sauce * Shanghai Pork Soup Dumplings (xiaolongbao) * Spicy Pork and Shrimp Shu Mai * Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings * Pea Sprouts with Chopped Garlic Of the many dimsum options in Chinatown, Begoni Bistro is a winner amongst few. Always a good sign when the clientele is overwhelmingly comprised of three-generations of family seated at large circular tables.
Begoni Bistro was an absolute gem in Chinatown — easily one of our favorite meals in San Francisco! The food was incredible. The house fried rice alone could be a meal by itself — perfectly cooked, flavorful, and so satisfying. We also had the siu mai, which were delicious and fresh, and everything we ordered came out hot and full of flavor. We tried the roast duck for the first time here — while it wasn’t our favorite dish personally, it was still a great experience to try something new, and everything else more than made up for it. The atmosphere is exactly what you want in Chinatown: busy, lively, and casual. It was packed when we arrived, which turned out to be a great sign — clearly a place people love, and for good reason. If you’re looking for authentic, no-frills Chinese food with amazing flavor, this place is a must-visit. We’d definitely come back!
I have to say, you should definitely go to this restaurant. Even though it was my first time ever trying Chinese food, especially dim sum, and I wasn’t familiar with it at all, it was amaaazing. Everything was so tasty, fun, and playful. If you’re looking for a new experience, absolutely get dim sum. We also ordered desserts, which were delicious too. The names are honestly hard to say, so we’ll just post photos of what we ordered. We ordered green tea as well, and they brought a huge teapot, so we were able to drink tea throughout the whole meal. The price of the food is really reasonable. The desserts we ordered were excellent, very unique, and really flavorful. Overall, I had a great experience and I highly recommend this place to everyone.
