We were invited here by good friends who spoke highly of this place and its long-standing reputation. The staff were fantastic—friendly, approachable, and clearly skilled. Service was definitely one of the highlights of the evening. The food, however, didn’t quite live up to the hype for us. The famous shoestring fries were tasty, and the portion was very generous, but I didn’t find them particularly special. The aioli, on the other hand, was packed with garlic, which we absolutely loved. The gnocchi was my favorite dish of the night—soft, creamy, with an elegant, subtle sauce and earthy mushrooms. We also ordered the melon salad. It was fresh and fragrant, although the bresaola portion felt a little small and slightly dry. The much-talked-about chicken was juicy and flavorful, and the stuffing underneath was delicious. The simple salad complemented it nicely. That said, while it was a very good dish, I don’t think it justified the $75 price tag. Overall, we had an enjoyable evening thanks to the wonderful service, but the food didn’t quite match the reputation or the price. That’s just my side of the story. 🫶🏼

Our table for two for dinner started with excellent Acme bread and butter, olives, and the fried potatoes. I’d hoped to have the famous chicken but it was a 60–75 minute wait. We both opted for the quail instead—with lentils. This dish was tasty though hard to get all the meat off tiny bones. My friend loved the pavlova and I found the flourless chocolate cake pretty decent. Great drink selection.

Had a fantastic experience at Zuni Café. The service was outstanding—attentive without being overbearing, and the staff really know the menu and guide you well. The food absolutely lives up to the reputation. The roasted chicken is a must—perfectly crisp skin, incredibly juicy, and packed with flavor. The rib eye was equally impressive, cooked spot on and elevated by a rich, well-balanced peppercorn sauce that added just the right amount of depth without overpowering the meat. And don’t leave without trying the chocolate cake—pair it with ice cream and it’s the perfect finish to the meal. Overall, a place that nails both execution and experience. Definitely one of those spots you keep coming back to.

Popped in to Zuni Cafe on a Thursday evening and there were plenty of tables available. The first thing I noticed was how hot the restaurant was, easily above 75 degrees so it was a bit uncomfortable. I started with the fresh lime margarita. It was okay, nothing special and I wouldn’t recommend it. Then my caesar salad came. The croutons were incredible, lots of parm and fresh lettuce. I enjoyed it a lot! The shoestring fries took over 25 minutes to come out. Massive portion, they were salty and the aioli was good. They charge extra for the aioli, they definitely needed it. The service was nothing memorable, they have an automatic 20% gratuity. Overall, I could’ve skipped this restaurant on my SF trip. Decent food but at the price point there are definitely better options.

It was my first time here (but my husband’s nth time). He was raving about their chicken but we had no time to wait for it (75 minutes cooking/waiting time for this) so we ordered something else. He ordered the olives and pizza, burger for me, and shoe string pizza for our daughter. The pizza looked good and my husband loved it. I tasted the olives but didn’t care for it. The hamburger was moist but lacked flavor (not well seasoned) - other cheaper burger options are far better than this. The highlight of the meal was surprisingly the shoestring fries - its simplicity was just great. The service was commendable and the ambiance was that of Paris.
