Rooms are outdated and definitely need some upkeep or a makeover, but its not a bad place on a budget. We stayed for a week, it was very quiet for most of our stay. We could hear upstairs neighbors walking around, the walls and floors are thin, but the area is nice. I felt safe walking down the street. We had a car but we walked a couple blocks to the bus stop to use public transport for most of our trip. This motel is near a few main bus lines if you dont mind a short walk.
Stayed here for a week and I have mixed feelings about the place. First the pros: -Location is outstanding, close to major bus lines, walk-able to coffee shops, went jogging a couple of times and felt safe in the neighborhood all times of day. -Price was very reasonable. -Free parking, no need to say more. -Overall a cute place, though a bit dated. Now for the neutral commentary: -Service was, fine. The woman who checked us in was very friendly, the gentleman we asked for more coffee pods was less so. Not rude, but we sure felt like we annoyed him asking for more coffee. -Room cleanliness. It smelled a bit stuffy but so do most motel rooms, had some stains on the curtains, but overall it was fine. -Had the motel standard jet engine of an AC unit, loud as hell but fairly effective. And the negative: -Peace and quiet was occasionally difficult to get. We were on the third floor and knew to expect some street noise, which was reasonable. From other reviews, we gathered that the staff quarters are directly above rooms 316-311, which explains the noise. Heavy footsteps and audible voices were common. One night we heard them messing with the smoke detector for about an hour then partying until 5am or so. Not cool. -State of repair wasn't great. The bathroom had a missing towel bar (but the mounts were still there!), two of the four vanity lights were out, the screen in the window was mostly torn out (important when there is no vent fan) and there was some mold in the shower grout. The front door had a large gap on the side and bottom and the furniture was pretty beat up. -The breakfast room was not great. Very limited selections (cereal, toast, tea and coffee). We were excited for the coffee, since we only got two coffee pods for the room, but were a bit terrified of what came out of the machine. The smell of mold overwhelmed any coffee smell, we didn't drink it and were worried about anyone who did. If I could give it 2.5 stars I would, but rounded up due to cost and location. Would I stay there again? Maybe, but only if every other option in the area was booked.
