Sorrel felt like summer on a plate. Melon salads, strawberries, corn raviolo, squash, asparagus, tomatoes, and rhubarb - alongside dishes like chawanmushi, Basque cheesecake, and raviolo - showed an ability to draw from different culinary traditions while maintaining a cohesive identity. A fun and playful tasting in Pacific Heights. I emailed them and was so grateful they accommodated me on such short notice. Huge thanks to the team Megan, Xena, Diego, George and Chef Amanda.
Can’t say enough good things about Sorrel. My wife and I did their Spring Tasting and were honestly blown away by almost every dish, especially their corn and nduja tortellini and the lamb add-on. The service was immaculate and expedient, without feeling rushed which we really appreciated. If you are looking for a culinary treat that is also more accessible than some other Michelin rated restaurants in the city, look no further!
Amazing vibes at sorrel. Came with a party of 8 on a Sunday night. Each dish was played beautifully and presented with very kind staff. The wine pairings were delicious and well thought. We loved the little gift of treats they gave us to take home at the end of the night. We were the last ones in the restaurant and didn't feel rushed to leave which we appreciated. Will definitely be coming back
My husband and I celebrated a birthday dinner at Sorrel and had such a wonderful experience. The food was excellent, and the wine pairing complemented each course perfectly. Every dish felt thoughtful executed with bright flavors. Lots of seasonal produce and fresh seafood. The ambiance was elegant yet comfortable, making it feel really special without being stuffy. What truly stood out, though, was the incredible service — warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming from start to finish. We left feeling so well taken care of. Highly recommend for a special occasion or a memorable night out in SF.
We returned to Sorrel for the third time to celebrate my mother, and while the food remains spectacular—every dish was a hit—the service felt a bit 'off' compared to our previous visits. We found ourselves asking for water refills multiple times and pouring our own wine, which was surprising for a Michelin-starred experience. We also missed a few details, like our requested leftovers being forgotten at the end of the night. Lastly, it was quite chilly inside; I’d recommend diners bring an extra layer! We still love the kitchen's work, but we missed that signature finesse this time around.
