I've gone here on multiple occasions and each time the food has been great and the service was funny and lighthearted while still knowledgeable when I was curious about any dishes. Get the wine pairing/whatever their somm Bey suggests bc it's always tasty. The duck banquet coursed dinner has a huge variety of flavors that touches on traditional and modern that guests should keep an open mind on. Too often people are stuck on the "old ways" and having an expectation for it being "cheap" or tasting a certain way. That way of thinking is so boring. Food here is fun and you'll leave stuffed with tasty leftovers. Duck is cooked perfect temp while still having that crispy skin, green beans have great wok smoke flavor, spicy cold beef is tongue numbing but exactly what you expect from something with Szechuan peppercorn, everything is solid. Also moongate lounge above the restaurant is cute as heck so come early and go upstairs and grab a drink before your table is ready! Views are lovely.
I can see why this one star Michelin restaurant is getting mixed reviews - the signature peijing duck is dry and very hard to chew. We also ordered ma po tou fu which is good. A small cucumber starter not bad, and a lobster fry noddle which is not great. I really don’t see this place how it become Michelin starred. Services is good but not outstanding and it is very much westernized atmosphere. I did go up stairs to check out moon lounge it is ok nothing special and very loud I guess is feels like Chiense bar. Two of us opened 450$. Comparing with my other Michelin experience - not that great.
We had an amazing dinner here, and every dish hit the mark. The Fortune cocktail was the perfect start, and the shrimp chip and salmon dip is an absolute must-try. The chopped pork and dirty rice were packed with rich flavor, perfectly balanced by the fresh crunch of the snap peas. (Pro-tip: don't skip their incredible chili sauces!) What made the night even better was our server, Cry, who was attentive, welcoming, and provided the best service. We’ll definitely be back!
My wife and I randomly picked Mr. Jiu's from a Google search in order to experience SF's Chinatown and WOW were we impressed. The staff seated us immediately (at the bar albeit) and we were attended instantly (by three bar employees), all personnel being very hospitable and knowledgeable :) The food (shrimp chips and the strawberry dessert) did not disappoint, and the beer(s) complimented well. Personally, the playlist was the cherry on top and pushed this place to 5 stars and spurred me to take pics! The price point was listed as ~$100, but we spent way less and still left happy and satisfied...I would for sure come here to meet friends, take a date, or have a meeting! Definitely worth stopping in if you are looking for food in Chinatown and want a high-end flare to the night :)
Great fusion of Chinese flavors and and western dining. They don’t skimp out on their portions and the service was also great. All of the dishes were solid, and the cheung fun was my personal favorite. It was served in pasta style, but the tastes were very Chinese with that XO flavor coming through. It felt like eating a delicious plate of pasta with much easier digestion due to the rice noodles. Another favorite was the scallion milk bread - you get that amazing scallion flavor as if you’re eating Chinese scallion pancakes, but through the soft milky bread with the melted butter. The salt and pepper shrimp crackers were a great appetizer to start the meal as well. The lamb dumplings were savory and had a sharp spicy level, so might not be food for people with low tolerance. The dirty fried rice was slightly under seasoned and I did t enjoy the stickiness of the okra as much in fried rice. But still solid and great portions.
