I’ve lived here since 2005 and have been coming here since then. It might be the best undiscovered gem in SF and is definitely one of the best restaurants. In Paris I used to go to the small restaurant Le True Normand and this is better!

Start to finish, dinner here was amazing. We had reservations and were seated immediately. They ooen at 5:30, and at 5:32, there were already 6 other tables seated. The servers were quick with waters, taking orders, and bread. The table bread was warm, soft, and a little toasty. It came with some salted butter. We started with the Mousse de Foie de Vollaile and the Heirloom Tomato Salad. Both dishes arrived together before we finished the table bread. The mousse has one larger slce of pain au levain, but there is way more mousse than we could put on that piece of bread. The pain au levain is sweeter than the table bread. The port jelly was light on flavor, amd there was a dusting of a spicy powder on the dish that went well with the mousse. My gf's only wish was for some fruit jelly or honey to pair with the mousse. The salad was lightly dressed with balsamic and perfect for two people. The burrata was soft and creamy, the peaches and tomatoes were ripe and full of flavor. It all paired well with the arugula. I got the 12 oz ribeye medium rare, amd she got the Moules Marinieres Frites. We both got french fries... The onlything that could have been better was that the ribeye was cooked medium well and a little dry. I expected a lot more from a French restaurant. The French medium rare should be a little less cooked than the American medium rare. It was good, but not great. The mussels were all open and cooked well. The sauce was full of flavor and we were dipping bread in it to finish it off. We ultimately decided to finish the mussels, take the steak home, and order dessert. We got the Moelleaux au Chocolat. We were told that it takes about 8 to 10 minutes to prepare. The cake was light and cooked through. The crème Anglaise inside was warm and chocolatey. With the caramel sauce and whipped cream, each bite was perfect. We would definitely get this again.

I just got home from a fantastic lunch here at cote. The chicken sandwich filled me right up. The ambiance of this cute little restaurant is really something. The waitstaff was friendly and very polite. I give them 5 stars ⭐️. I wish I could give them 100.

It’s a small restaurant, though the street patio adds some welcome breathing room. Soft background music creates a pleasant atmosphere, and the elegant tableware sets a nice tone. Warm complimentary bread with butter is a thoughtful touch. Service is fine overall, though nothing exceptional. Escargots de Bourgogne The escargots are very good baked in parsley and garlic butter, fragrant and flavorful. The puff pastry doesn’t add much in terms of taste, at least for me, but it does provide a pleasant textural contrast. It's a good dish even with pastry. Xipirons a la Plancha Perfectly cooked, tender calamari paired with sautéed serrano ham, greens, and a spicy yet manageable. The portion is generous, and the flavors come together beautifully. Rillettes de Lapin The rabbit rillettes are very tender, with some pleasantly chewy pieces of meat that work well alongside Dijon mustard and cornichons. The combination of mild sweetness, bitterness, and acidity is balanced and satisfying. Île Flottante A truly outstanding dessert — easily one of the best I’ve had in the last four years. The airy, soft meringue has a gentle sweetness that blends perfectly with the richer, creamier sweetness of the crème anglaise. Thinly sliced almonds add just the right amount of crunch. If you have a sweet tooth and live in or visit San Francisco, this is a must‑try. Tarte Fine aux Pommes A very good apple tart served with apple sauce and vanilla ice cream, though it inevitably feels understated next to the exceptional Île Flottante. And there is a great dessert wine - Le Pere Jules 5 Year Pommeau de Normandie, - it’s another way to finish a dinner. The restaurant may be small, but the food is impressive, and several dishes truly stand out. Highly recommended.

🇫🇷 An Authentic French Brunch Masterpiece If you are looking for the absolute best brunch in San Francisco, look no further than Cote Ouest Bistro. This charming spot in Cow Hollow/Presidio is a true neighborhood gem that delivers a level of authenticity and culinary excellence that is hard to find. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere sets the stage for a world-class meal. I’ve been to many French bistros, but this experience was on another level entirely. Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared, and the quality of ingredients really shone through in every single bite. 🥩 Perfect Steak Frites and the Best Benedict The mains were the true stars of the show. I am particularly picky about my steak, but the steak frites here were executed flawlessly. I ordered it medium-well, and unlike most places that tend to overcook or burn the meat at that temperature, Cote Ouest served it perfectly juicy and tender. It was seasoned beautifully and paired with some of the best fries in the city. The Eggs Benedict was also an "OMG" highlight—the hollandaise was rich and velvety, and the overall dish was easily one of the best versions I’ve ever had. It is a must-order for any brunch enthusiast. 🥚 Phenomenal Starters and Presentation We started our meal with the deviled eggs, and I was blown away by both the presentation and the taste. They weren't just standard eggs; they were presented phenomenally and had a depth of flavor that was truly unexpected. It’s clear the kitchen puts as much effort into their small plates and shareables as they do their main entrees. The balance of creaminess and seasoning was spot on, making them a perfect opening act for the heavier dishes to follow. ☕ Exquisite Dessert and Coffee Pairings To round out the meal, we couldn't resist the apple tarte (Tarte Fine aux Pommes), and it was the perfect sweet finish. The pastry was delicate and crisp, and the apples were perfectly caramelized. Pairing it with a high-quality espresso and a cappuccino made the end of the meal just as enjoyable as the beginning. The coffee isn't just an afterthought here; it is well-crafted, with a smooth finish that complemented the dessert perfectly. Expert Cooking: The ability to keep a medium-well steak juicy is a mark of a truly skilled kitchen. Warm Atmosphere: The bistro has a cozy, authentic feel that makes you feel like you've been transported to Paris. Consistency: From the coffee to the main course, every element of the meal was consistent in its high quality. Friendly Service: The staff was attentive and contributed to the overall great experience. 👍 Final Verdict: A New Sunday Tradition I am giving Cote Ouest Bistro a well-deserved 5-star rating. It is a rare find where the food, service, and atmosphere all align perfectly. Whether you are looking for a romantic date spot or just want a high-end weekend meal, this is the place to go. I am already planning my next visit because this was, without a doubt, the best brunch experience I’ve had in a very long time.
