CONS: room was very small, old and dated. Inside latch lock was semi broken. The phone did not work. The stairs had trash and leaves all over them. The handrails were sticky. The washcloths were ancient, rough and dingy gray. The layout of the place is like an echo chamber. You HEAR EVERYTHING. There kids running around at night banging on doors and people coming and going until 2:00 am. I was pretty bummed about this and didn’t really get a lot of rest. PROS: ALL of the employees are very kind and happy to assist you. The rooms were clean and tidy. The refrigerator/freezer worked excellent. Plenty of hot water and the water pressure was fabulous. This motel is in a great spot and within walking distance to all sorts of shops and restaurants. I really loved the area and it felt safe. The price is right if you’re on a budget. They always had coffee and Tea. They have free parking but it is very limited but that’s an added plus. I would recommend getting an upstairs room and bringing earplugs or noise canceling headphones. Also there is no elevator so you have to lug your stuff upstairs and hopefully are not in a wheelchair.
Raja at the front desk was absolutely amazing. My brother and I were down because my mom was life flighted from our home town for emergency surgery. We had to keep extending our stay and Raja went above and beyond for customer service and honored the original booking rate. Rooms were clean and beds were comfy. The breakfast was basic with a waffle station but it was perfect for our needs. We were close enough to the wharf to walk down, close to restaurants and bus stops. I would definitely stay here again if in San Francisco
Spontaneous trip meeting a recent new friend was on the docket. I was looking for a balance of economy & comfort; this place kind of stood out. The limited onsite free parking is a nice touch, albeit fairly narrow (compact or mid-size vehicles only recommended); otherwise, I just parked in the garage nearby down the street. They could better optimize use of the entry space for 1-2 cars during full capacity; backing in from side street also not too difficult waiting for blockages to move. The building felt a bit dated and stale but overall doable (even if I passed a wandering rat at night on street level stair entrance, haha). The morning lobby has a stuffy scent from the breakfast setup. My room door didn't close smoothly outside (you had to pull it harder in a certain way). The fridge made an annoying background noise that took hours to figure out that it was the freezer unit so I just turned the setting off at 0 which basically renders it useless (I didn't need the fridge anyway). The bathroom floor door trim was loose. The shower curtain wall brackets weren't done well nor secured. The sink dripped even when it was off. The HVAC control cover fell off when I opened it... now the good stuff! Pretty comfortable bed with soft ambient back light and really good cable TV. Neighbors: overall fairly normal except certain guests talking out loud in the center corridor after midnight. Unfortunately for my friend hanging out the 1st night, all those noises at night discouraged her from staying with me. Staff was just ok and cordial. I'd try again with a good deal but otherwise hard pass on this place.
Overall a good hotel. It is very compact and little parking (parking is first come, first serve). There is free breakfast but the room is small and not a lot of variety (no protein). Rooms were clean and it gets the job done. Nothing special, it really is just a room for the night. Also you have to hike your stuff up the stairs.
