Description
During my Castro LGBTQ+ History Tour, we'll unpack the role the US military played in the formation of the 'gayest city on Earth'. We'll visit the Pink Triangle Memorial, the first of its kind to honor the gay prisoners killed during the Nazi regime (1933 to 1945). Other stops include Hibernia Beach, (also known as the Castro LGBTQ+ Memorial), the GLBT History Museum, and Jane Warner Plaza, named after the first openly lesbian police officer on the San Anselmo police force. During our time together we will also visit Harvey Milk's former camera shop, campaign headquarters and residence. We''ll also unpack the legacies of the White Night Riots and landmark gay rights ordinance of 1979. The Castro packs quite the punch and I look forward to sharing it with you.Includes
