⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌙 4.5 Stars Location: Excellent Nob Hill area, near Grace Cathedral (uphill) and Union Square (downhill), reasonable rates. Walkable. *** Front Desk Staff: Not well trained or proactively informative or attentive, just adequate, at best. Please address this. *** Housekeeping: Inconsistent Sat. Tues were great, Sunday, Monday, Wednesday were not....not attentive to detail, we didn't ask for bedding changes but the individual(s) didn't even bother to fluff pillows, tidy bedding, barely touched the room on 3 days. *** Decor: Charming, elegant British florals, fireplaces, dining area, shared living room and library, tastefully appointed. Last renovation 2018. Signs of wear and tear are evident to a trained eye. *** Room/Suite: Charming, fireplace, spacious, great hot water, quiet rear of hotel, very old TV, not streaming enabled, no AC but comfy with fan, very comfy king bed, wet bar area, some paint needs attention and surfaces need deeper cleaning. Fruit basket was extra but a nice touch. *** Daily wine, nibbles reception are a nice touch. *** Breakfast: included continental with oatmeal, cereals, breads, coffee, tea, orange juice, water. Excellent dining room staff. *** Additional: We enjoyed the Treasure Hunt activity and prizes challenge. 3 items require updates as landmarks have changed. ***
We loved our stay at the White Swan Inn when we were visiting San Francisco for two evenings. The location is perfect. We were able to easily walk to areas such as Chinatown and the Cable Car Museum. We were only a couple of blocks from public transportation and rode the bus, train, and cable car. We didn't have to use our car at all during our stay. As soon as we arrived, Cody was a great asset to our stay. He gave us such helpful information as to where to eat, how to get around, and even where to park for a better deal. He really enhanced our stay. The room was large and very nicely decorated. We enjoyed the wine and nibbles the first evening and breakfast both mornings. The inn was quiet and had great amenities, such as microwave, refrigerator, robes, and even a box fan that really helped to circulate air. I'm very pleased with our stay and would definitely recommend this to any one staying in the area.
Great location and super helpful / attentive staff. The rooms were large and very colorful. Bed was comfortable. Floors do squeak and elevator is the old-fashioned kind (expanding gate and sliding door), but that’s part of the charm! Breakfast was continental and quite good. Check them out!
Stayed here after seeing the recommendation on a travel blog. It is a cozy hotel with a warm ambiance to it. It's the first I've stayed in that even has a gas fireplace in each room. The rooms are large and clean, and you can tell they took the effort to decorate it with little nick nacks to make it feel like more than just a hotel room. We also enjoyed using the antique elevator, which only scared my wife a little bit haha. Our only caveat is that the breakfast is very light. It had mostly pastries and cereal, with the only source of protein being hard boiled eggs. Otherwise, everything was fresh and delicious. We didn't rent a car during our stay so we never utilized the valet, but we easily got around on foot or utilizing the muni all day pass, which at the time of this writing is $15. Overall, we loved our stay here and would absolutely stay here again.
We had an amazing time at White Swan Inn. This was our third stay in San Francisco and our first stay here. If you have stayed in hotel in San Francisco before you know most hotels are tiny and have thin walls. We were on the first floor and while we could hear noise it wasn’t as bad I expected. The room was super spacious and we loved the fireplace and the bed was so comfortable. We loved the happy hour (shoutout Francesco for being amazing) and breakfast was light (oatmeal, pastries, cereal and yogurt) but perfect for what we needed. The location is where we prefer to stay a bit away from the union square and the wharf and more in nobb hill! We will stay here again!
