I stayed 11 nights, after researching other hotels, and would return. Below are helpful things to know and tips. - Excellent location - a few blocks from Fisherman's Wharf and Ghirardelli Square in a safe area of town. You can walk to catch a ferry to Alcatraz or Pier 39. The Big Bus Hop On Hop Off Bus stop is located across street from the Marriott on North Point St in front of the Hotel Cazar. A Walgreens is across the street. I did take a Waymo or Uber or the Hop On/Hop Off bus to Chinatown and North Beach. The Botanical Gardens (very large and beautiful - peaceful retreat from the business) and California Academy of Science and De Young museum is about 30 minutes away. I took a Waymo (driverless tax - need the app). - Parking and Pick-ups. There is only Valet parking for $75 (plus $10 tax) per night. It was convenient and fast; the valets were nice. I looked into offsite parking lots but it is still around $50- plus reviews of being overcharged. My husband had the car for several days in Yosemite, so he should told the Valet he would not be back and we were not charged for those days. - Room. I got the Courtyard view - highly recommend. See below for details. - Red Fin Restaurant. Open for breakfast and dinner. There is a daily resort charge of $40 and $20 of it can be used for breakfast, dinner, drinks or dessert. I used my credit mostly for dinner or dessert. The highlight of my evening visits was seeing Shun, the waiter, with his smile, gentle warmth and making sure I had everything I wanted. He made the Marriott seem more friendly and like a home for my 11 day stay.

The location was amazing right in the center of everything we wanted to see while visiting San Francisco. We stayed in a family suite but I'll be honest I don't think it was worth the extra 100 a night over a regular queen room. The extra space really doesn't add value and the bathrooms quite small for a family of 4. If the 'suite' upgrade added space in the bathroom that would have definitely been a better use of the space in the room vs. just having a little more walking space and 2 chairs. Room was very clean which I appreciate. I never tried the onsite restaurant. Parking is 75 a night if your driving as an FYI and not included in the additional price of the hotel mandatory daily fee's. I realize San Fran is expensive; this was much more than our last trip to NYC in comparison.

Everything about this hotel was fantastic for our family except for the breakfast. The front desk was very friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean and and kept clean daily, and the valet was extremely responsive and friendly. Our only complaint was the breakfast, as you'll see others say. It's very clear the prices are inflated due to the daily credit you get, and the service is just poor. We sometimes waited 30 minutes for a very mid breakfast, even with very few other people being served. They need to just have the buffet open, or add more staff.
