We were very happy during our second stay at the Monte Cristo. We were greeted like family upon arrival, and there were plenty of wonderful snacks waiting in the dining room which was perfect after a long flight. Our standard king room was beautifully decorated. The mattress was extremely comfortable and the linens and pillows were perfection. Lovely area too with plenty of good restaurants nearby. The Monte Cristo will always be our home away from home when visiting San Francisco.
We spent 4 days here on a campus tour and absolutely enjoyed our stay at Monte Cristo. Jack was friendly and always available to help. The breakfast is lovely and freshly made daily. We appreciated the light snacks and drinks provided 24-hour. The room is nicely updated even though it’s ancient with 100+ years of history. The decor and furniture shows the elegance and calm you can only find in a well crafted era movie. The location is superb in the prestigious pacific heights area with lots of restaurants cafes and shops nearby. It’s very walkable and easy to go around town. I wish we could stay longer.
Bonafide gem. Unmistakably my favourite place to stay in San Francisco. Might sound like hyperbole, and it is not. For someone who stays in a lot of hotels, this is a much better place to stay than any of them
Its a great little Inn, just kinda overpriced. $350 a night in the middle on the week in February is steep, cant imagine how much a weekend in December would be, and the amenities are very Inn-like, not the clean looking and comfortable experience of a proper hotel, which is why the price seems too high. But the room was clean, the bathroom seemed to have been remodeled somewhat recently and the breakfast was good.
Recently, I visited San Francisco for a work trip and had the absolute pleasure of staying at the Monte Cristo Bed and Breakfast. When my Uber first dropped me off, I’ll admit I was a bit confused — I even found myself asking, “Wait, where is it?” As someone visiting the city for the first time, I wasn’t expecting such a low-key exterior. Once I stepped inside, though, all my doubts disappeared. I was greeted by a very friendly gentleman at the front desk who shared that the building dates back to the late 1800s. Despite its age, everything was spotless and beautifully maintained, with a classic charm that immediately made me feel at home. My room upstairs was cozy and comfortable, with all the modern amenities you’d expect from a hotel — and maybe even more. Breakfast was delivered to my room each morning, and the community dining area downstairs offered delicious desserts available throughout the day. I highly recommend staying at Monte Cristo Bed and Breakfast. It’s a perfect blend of history, comfort, and hospitality. I honestly can’t imagine wanting to stay anywhere else the next time I visit San Francisco!
