Best place to stay downtown! Very clean and safe to park and leave vehicle and walk to everything close…pier 39, ferris wheel, alcatraz.. etc! perfect location! this is our view from room 315 with 2 rooms: 2 queens and 1 queen. slept 6 perfectly! highly recommend! great hosts too!
My 17 and 19 year-old sons and I stayed at the Columbus Motor Inn from June 25-July 2. Our experience was exceptional. I stayed at the hotel 20 years ago and loved the area so we returned. The location is perfect. It’s walking distance to Fisherman’s Wharf, Coit Tower, Lombard Street’s switchbacks, North Beach, etc. Columbus Street is a main bus line so bus stops are steps from the front door. I was pleased to see they still offer FREE parking- a service I used when I brought my own car in 2006. Our room was clean, spacious (two double beds) and functional. The staff was friendly and the housekeeping staff still cleaned our rooms when we left in the late morning (some hotels have a cleaning window of before noon). The showers had shampoo, conditioner and body wash that my boys loved. We could see Coit Tower and the TransAmerican building from our window. I’ll be back!
Wonderful location, very clean and quiet, nice staff. Dated ambience but very comfortable. No complaints. Free self parking super convenient. Not only save on the expense but also the aggravation of having to wait for valet. Walking distance to Fisherman’s Wharf and Chinatown and cable car, etc. A real gem in the rough and unbeatable for the price.
Great value for the price! The hotel was well worth the cost, and having a parking lot nearby was a huge plus — very convenient if you're driving around the city. The location is perfect. It's walking distance to Pier 39, so you can easily explore Fisherman's Wharf without needing to take a cab or rideshare. The surrounding area is also quiet and safe, which made the stay feel very comfortable. Highly recommend!
While a bit older and worn out, they keep the hotel clean! Service was pleasant, parking free and provided on premices, location was great, wifi sucked. You can walk almost anywhere you want, plenty of coffee shops and restaurants nearby,famous trams stop 5 minutes away, you will love it. Most rooms have pretty view. Our time at the Motor Inn was great.
