Historic San Francisco rowing and swimming club known for cold-water swimming, wooden boat rowing, and a long record of producing and attracting serious athletes. The membership base includes many well known San Francisco figures from politics, business, and the arts, all drawn to the club’s demanding culture and daily Bay access. The facility is functional, not fancy, and the volunteer model keeps expectations high. Work hours, maintenance, and event support are part of the deal. Morning training creates a consistent rhythm, and Aquatic Park gives predictable open-water conditions. The club runs on tradition, accountability, and a shared respect for the Bay. A defining SF institution.
