Lovely historic beauty, maintained lovingly. Dedicated, friendly staff, delicious breakfast. Photographs of local SF history line the halls and staircases.
2nd time here. Love the location! Close to Golden Gate Park and UCSF medical. It is surrounded by neighborhood food places and lovely Victorian homes. Hotel is an historic building and cozy. Nice they have wine in evening and breakfast in morning.
Lovely boutique hotel, walking distance to Golden Gate Park. Bill, the hotel manager, was a pleasure to work with! Enjoyed the free wine and snacks in the afternoon and the complimentary breakfast. Great staff and clean rooms! I visited with a friend who was a previous guest, and I understand why he chose to stay here again. The hotel staff was accommodating and knowledgeable about the area. I will stay again on my next visit!
The location is great for accessing transit, walking to the park or down Haight. My simple interior room was clean (some stains on the carpet, but not unsanitary looking, just stains that look like they attempted to get em out; but were not able because stain.) No AC, but was able to open windows for fresh breeze, baseboard heater kept me warm in the evening (though I'm still a bit confused by the dial settings and just guessed.) Breakfast had simple grab to go items as well as some hot sausage and coffee, cereal, yogurt and chocolate milk in the fridge. I didn't interact with staff very much, but they were very helpful when I did. Love the historical photos throughout the hallways and my room. Housekeeping replaced fresh towels, but left the one I'd hung up for drying my hands after washing, which was appreciated so I didn't have to keep replacing it for just a few days of a stay. Bed was comfy. Minus 1* for including cult materials (Gideon's bible) in the side table drawer.
A second-to-none location in an old Victorian building — vintage and elegant, full of charm, but missing a few modern-day amenities. There’s no microwave, refrigerator, or air conditioner. While AC isn’t really necessary in the city, it would still be a nice touch. Our room was on the first floor facing the main street, which made it quite noisy and hard to get a good night’s sleep. Installing double-pane windows would easily solve this issue.
