Reviews
We checked in late at night, and the staff accommodated us without any issues, which we really appreciated. The rooms are quite small, and sound insulation could be better as you can hear a lot of noise from outside and neighboring rooms. The mattress was very comfortable, but the bed frame was a bit noisy and squeaked with movement.
We had a truly relaxing and charming stay in Room 46. The soft mattress made for an excellent night’s sleep, and the atmospheric gas fireplace added a cozy, old-world ambiance—though it’s worth noting it doesn’t provide much actual warmth. The room itself had a lovely, classic chintz charm, and the sunken bath was a real highlight—perfect for unwinding after a long day. Complimentary bottled still and sparkling water was a thoughtful touch and much appreciated. The location was also a major plus—an excellent base for exploring the city. We felt safe throughout our stay, and it’s conveniently near Union Square, with easy access to trolleys and the vintage cable cars, making it simple to get around and head down to the piers. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay, and breakfast was good—nothing lavish, but satisfying, with particularly good pastries. The only downside was some noise from guests in the room above; we could hear noticeable rumbling and creaking floorboards at times. Because of this, we’d likely request a room on the top 5th floor next time for a quieter experience. Overall, a beautiful and restful stay with plenty of charm. We would definitely recommend Petite Auberge and would happily return.
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. We absolutely loved the antique charm and character of the building. We chose a room with a fireplace, which made the experience even more cozy and enjoyable. The 24/7 tea and coffee area in the basement was a lovely touch and very convenient. The location was also excellent — just a short walking distance to Union Square, which made exploring the city very easy. The valet service was a bit expensive, but in a city like San Francisco, where car safety can be a concern, it gave us real peace of mind. The hotel staff were incredibly warm, friendly, and helpful throughout our stay. As a small suggestion, disposable slippers in the rooms would have been appreciated, and adding a wider variety of cheeses at breakfast could make the experience even better. Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay and would happily return. Thank you for everything.
Love this Parisian style hotel! The Manager, Christie was amazing- personable, accommodating, professional and efficient! Hope I get to see her next trip! Comfortable, clean rooms with fireplace. Wonderful common areas - living room, coffee sitting areas and outside patio for fresh air. All day coffee, tea, water bottles & breakfast provided. Kool old style elevator. Quiet made for a wonderful stay. Mahalo! 🌸
What a creatively curated small hotel. Everyone who loves anything artsy must stay in this Hotel. Also, their breakfast/free wine space is so cute and laid-back. Ill stay here only every time I would visit SF.
