Wonderful hotel with outstanding amenities. The staff here are so kind and thoughtful. Shout out to Paul, Troy, and Sebastion. They are an awesome crew of people that made my stay feel a bit more like home. The beds are rather hard, that the only issue, but an issue I can overlook.
What a wonderful classic hotel in the heart of San Francisco. Easy walk to Union Square. Thoughtful chill staff. Clean simple rooms. Wonderful complementary sit down breakfast on the 12th floor over looking the city 🍳 with steamed vegetables, eggs, meats, oatmeal, granola, yogurt and all of your other basics. Gracious wait staff - you may tip to room at the end of your meal which I appreciate as I don’t carry cash. Overall just a wonderful stay and exactly what I would prefer. Note: This is a classic original rooms have been updated but bathrooms appear to be original or close to if you want your plain old Marriott this isn’t it. It’s an amazing step away from the hustle and bustle AND a tribute to the men and women who have protected land:water 🌊!
My, oh my!!! We had such an incredibly good time at the Marines' Memorial Club and Hotel last weekend!!! We (and 34 of our family and friends) stayed at the hotel to celebrate my husband's 80th birthday with a walk across the Golden Gate Bridge and a dinner in the Crystal Lounge on the 11th floor. The assistance from staff in planning the event months in advance was outstanding: room availability, bus transportation to the bridge, flowers for the dinner, menu selection, birthday cake, table linens, even recommending that we get a suite to facilitate private gatherings. Our guests enjoyed their accommodations, loved the living history surrounding them, and totally took advantage of Happy Hour and Breakfast at Chesty's Bar and Grill on the 12th floor, as well as several enjoying the swimming pool. There were several dining room choices in the hotel for holding the Birthday Dinner, but the Crystal Lounge was perfect for us! On entering the room for dinner, I gasped because the room was so beautifully set up! The pre-dinner gathering area and the dining area were set apart and each looked gorgeous. The appetizer platters were so decorative and delicious: fresh fruit, Mediterranean delights, and charcuterie! The entrees were beautifully plated ( Filet Mignon, Grilled Salmon, and Grilled Portobello Mushroom) and everyone delighted in their meals. The birthday cake was beautiful and had that not-too-sweet perfection!!! The servers were very efficient and friendly. The bartender did a great job at keeping the glasses filled and the spirits flowing. I really felt pampered. Comments from our guests were entirely complimentary regarding the decor, the appetizers, the bar and bartender, the dinner and the cake. The evening exceeded all our expectations. The service team was fantastic and all our guests enjoyed themselves immensely! I could go on and on about the wonderful experience we had with the Marines' Memorial Club and Hotel, both the facility and the staff. We are so glad that we chose them!!!
Really great hotel in a convenient location. The rooms are very clean and good value. There is free laundry and one of the best hotel gyms I’ve seen with a lap pool. Free breakfast. The building is charming and I will definitely stay again when coming to SF.
It really surprises me to see some of the negative reviews for this hotel, because it offers fantastic value and has such a great spirit. The staff are brilliant, consistently friendly, helpful, and welcoming. The location is perfect, making everything easily accessible. Some people describe the rooms as dated. Ours may not have been ultra-modern, but the décor was tasteful and comfortable, and we had everything we needed. Yes, you might occasionally hear noise from neighbouring bathrooms, and the internet isn’t the fastest, but these are minor points in the grand scheme. The television was modern and a good size, and the daily happy hour was a lovely touch, two complimentary drinks each, which we really appreciated. Breakfast was a real highlight. The buffet had so much choice, and it was refreshing to see proper scrambled eggs rather than powdered alternatives. The waiters were attentive and genuinely friendly, and having your own coffee pot brought to the table as soon as you sit down was a great detail. There’s even a Starbucks coffee and a breakfast-to-go option if you’re in a hurry. Overall, this hotel delivers excellent value for money. If you’re paying top prices, you might expect absolute perfection, but when you’re paying a fraction of that, it’s hard to fault what’s on offer here. We’d happily stay again.
