Reviews
I can not believe all the negative reviews on this hotel. I ended up booking only because it was the only Hyatt available for a points booking for my dates in the location I wanted. I wasn’t thrilled about it due to the reviews but figured we could do anything for a couple of nights. However, it was an absolute win for us…gorgeous updated rooms, quiet, great beds, good service. Absolutely no complaints. I will say the reviews about the AC are about right, though. The room only cools to about 72 and we had two rooms on different floors and both were the same. The windows open a bit so I opened the window and was totally fine (even in July when some locals said it was unusually warm), but that could be one issue for some people.
I stayed here from July 5–7. Check-in was smooth, and the gentleman who helped us was friendly and even guided us to the elevator since the reception elevator was under maintenance. I really appreciated his excellent service. Unfortunately, our experience with the front desk afterward was disappointing. We were traveling with a baby and simply asked if they could provide a ceramic cup so we could warm up a bottle of milk. The woman at the front desk immediately said they didn’t have one and made no effort to offer an alternative or help in any way. It’s not the lack of a ceramic cup that disappointed us—it was the complete lack of willingness to assist. Hospitality is about solving small problems for guests whenever possible, especially at a 4-star Hyatt property. Attention to these little details is what separates great hotels from average ones. I hope the management team takes guest service more seriously and empowers their staff to be more helpful. Small acts of kindness can make a big difference, especially for families traveling with young children.
Great location and an easy place to stay while exploring the area. The views from the hotel aren’t much to write home about, but the overall experience was positive. We were initially placed in a room right next to the pool, and when I asked for something a bit more private, the staff were quick to accommodate. They moved us to one of their newly renovated rooms, which was very nice and a definite upgrade. Overall, the service stood out and made a difference—just wish the rooms offered better views.
This hotel was great! We wanted to be close to the wharf and it was so close. We were within walking distance to restaurants, stores and the cable cars. The room was a good size for two people, elevators were fast and service was great. It was my friends birthday and they had wine, popcorn and a card ready for her. We left a little note for the room attendant and she was also so sweet and wrote a note back. We ate a dinner at the restaurant inside the hotel and had coffee there also. Good service all around. Would stay again.
