My review is late. I've stayed at this property before. This is my go to location for when I work. This location is convenient for public transportation as the bus stop is nearby as well as the Muni/BART station. It's also a walkable location to various grocery stores including Trader Joes. Housekeeping service is great here as well. I'd like to highlight a few of the stars that work at this location. 1. Devon & Michael on night shift always make sure I'm able to grab breakfast even if it's just a piece of fruit as I leave out around 6:15 am and I appreciate that so much...I did not try the restaurant at the sister hotel across the street but I plan on it in August. 2. Gabriel is so sweet. He helped me navigate SF to ensure I get to work and all the way to Fremont. If I have any questions etc when he works he always has an answer. 3. Edward offered me a mini fridge which I never knew was available and that was greatly appreciated. I definitely will ask for one on my next stay...this made my day and was also the deciding factor of my continuous return to stay here. 4. Kristine is always willing to help when needed as well. I'm on my way back for about 2 weeks and I'm very excited !!!

Service is excellent. Staff is super friendly and helpful. It’s great you can open the windows in your room to get fresh air, however there is no light in the shower and no refrigerator in the room. The aesthetics in the bathroom are questionable at best. Get a better tile guy. Overall the rest of the room is decent, and the beds are very comfortable. Continental breakfast is delicious.

Rooms small and old. The smells of urine and feces waft through the rooms that face courtyard. Shower has such low pressure is hard to shower. Breakfast was actually amazing. Limited choices but delicious keish, croissant was amazing, and the pastries were great as well. The bed was comfortable. The staff were amazing. Would stay again if had no other choice.

You get what you pay for. The rooms are nice, spacious. Not dodgy like people have mentioned. You have to choose well. Service was great. Yet to try breakfast. I will say tho: People were right about the rooms smelling. It’s not bleach, it’s just this damp smell. Maybe because of the sink in the room? I don’t know why they can’t get room fresheners. Also, you can’t avoid the $200 hold on your account or the $20 nightly charge. They deduct that charge from your hold based on how long you stay. So you won’t get back $200 ever.

Hotel Garrett is actually a fairly well maintained property. I’ve been in a few of the rooms. Both offered ample space, had multiple outlets and both had clean beds, bathrooms and floors. I love that the windows open. If your room is situated by the elevator and staircase (both are used often), then you will for sure hear them both. Walls are a bit thinner but at night generally it’s pretty low key and quiet. Higher than normal ceilings. Pastries offered in morning are pretty good. WiFi is strong, limited parking on site ($30 I think). Key access to rooms is required. The only downside besides some of the neighborhood characters at night is the $300 authorized security deposit (held; released at check-out). Kinda absurd when the room is less than $100. And worse yet if you have a debit card they’ll hold onto it for an entire month UNLESS you get a print-out folio at checkout showing your remaining balance is $0.00. Would recommend, if you can fork up the $300 for a hold.
